Content is king
Beside all the SEO-tips, it is the content of your blog article which matters most. The title as well as the structure and the text are the reasons why your readers come to your blog. Hence, search engines also try to rank blogposts according to their relevancy. Good content means that your blogpost describes a specific central theme. It is important that your blogpost focuses on this central theme. However, it does not mean that you should through around with keywords. Keep in mind that it must be easy to read your blog article. Before writing a blogpost, you should become a small expert about the topic. Don’t summarize a Wikipedia description. Look deeper into the topic and write and awesome text about it yourself. Structure & length
Before writing your blogpost, you should have a certain structure in mind. You could either structure your article as a list, or write a story with well-chosen headings. Of course, paragraphs as well as subtitles should be used as well. There is no optimal length for your blogpost, but it should not be shorter than 400 or 500 words. On the other hand, keep in mind that your blogpost must be amazingly written if you expect your readers to continue reading after 2,000 words. Hence, 500 to 800 words are a good length for a SEO friendly blogpost.
After writing the first couple of blogposts, you should start to think about so-called interlinks. Interlinks are links in your blogpost which link to another article. By including interlinks, you do not only optimize your blog for search engines. On top of that, you make it easier for the reader to continue with other relevant blogposts afterwards. Naturally, it does not make sense to include more than two or three backlinks in your blogpost.
The meta description is the small summary of the blogpost which is shown by search engines below the title. Hence, you should make sure to add useful and attractive meta descriptions to all your blog articles. In best case, the meta description summarizes the blog article but still leaves important questions open so that the viewer is interested in reading the whole text.
After writing your blogpost, it is important that you optimize them afterwards. Content marketing is not only about writing content. It includes sharing content as well as analyzing the blog afterwards. There are many tools available for analyzing the SEO-effectiveness of your blogposts. Make sure to include tools like Google Search Console in your feature set and regularly have a look on how you can improve your blogposts. Sometimes, the CTR will not be high enough so that you need to rephrase the title. Then again, your blogpost will have a good CTR but they text needs some keyword optimization. The more time you spend on optimization, the better will your blogposts rank in search engines.
